Sergey Gorobets is an ambitious civil servant who dreams of becoming the mayor of the provincial town of Blagoyarsk. However, Sergey's political career is ruined by a scandal: he is removed from the elections, fired, and expelled from the party. On top of that, he accidentally hits 9-year-old Varya, a cheeky orphanage girl, with his car. Varya, who survives, immediately begins to blackmail him. In order to avoid going to jail, the man agrees to pose as her savior and take her under his guardianship. Varya demands that he help her find her grandmother, and in exchange, she plays the role of the "ideal daughter" in his public campaign. Their tandem, built on manipulation and mutual deals, unexpectedly begins to work.
